Do you enjoy a good bookish gift? Whether you prefer to curl up in a cosy reading nook in your house or whip out a book whenever you get a moment, reading is something that can bring people together. I don’t know about you, but it’s a topic I can talk about for a long time, especially with someone who’s shared a few titles with me!
My favourite part about reading is just not taking it too seriously, I don’t feel like I have to be a critic, and tend to enjoy nearly everything I read. I love that it’s a hobby with many levels, with the other end of the spectrum of people who love to annotate, to critically assess and predict the next twist or book. And you can still be sure that the shared love of literature can bring people together.
Top Books This Year so Far
It’s now my fourth year of reading over 50 books a year as a target, with 104 hit last year! This is something that keeps me going, and with so many read, it’s hard not to pick a few favourites.
A Little Bit of Magic
The Priory of the Orange Tree - Samantha Shannon
Finally getting to this book after a while of owning it was great, the size was daunting and it took a while, but the seemingly random selection of characters it begins with all start to weave together and wrap things up by the end of a really fun story.
Magic school, witches, werewolves, dragons, vampires and more, it’s been a fun tale of discovery and love, with more books to go until I finish!
Something Romantic
I love her writing and the way she makes you root for each and every couple.
Yes it was dark, but the relationship wasn’t. The relationship was mostly fun and light and had comedic relief from the darker moments of what was happening, so for my first dark romance book, I’m happy I picked something that was also cute and fun.
A Touch of Mystery
The Reappearance of Rachel Price - Holly Jackson
I’ve read other books by this author and really enjoyed them, and this is no different. It steadily gives you little clues and things to think about while weaving more mystery throughout, which left me with no idea where it was going at the end,
I’ve read nearly everything else this author has written and enjoyed every one, never guessing a single twist and just accepting I'm along for the ride. The Crash was more simple in the way that it twisted, and it gave Misery vibes which was fun, complete with that last page twist of hers that I love so much!
The best part about a reader is how easy they can be to shop for! Although it can sometimes be hard to pick a book, you don't know what they have and haven't got. That's why bookish gift ideas and accessories are an ideal present on their special day. A bookish gift can include accessories for a kindle, something to cosy up the reading space, or protection for a hardback while you're reading to keep the corners unbent and prying eyes away!
Here's our adjustable paperback and hardback covers, suitable for a range of sizes of each, offering that bit of protection or simply just hiding your latest title while you're out and about.
What about something to cosy up the reading corner? A bookish gift could also include something fun and functional, our pocket cushions are ideal for lounging on while you read, and then when you're finished and want to leave your book for the next time you can read and relax, simply pop the book into the pocket of the cushion and come back to it later.

What is a good gift for someone who loves reading?
A good gift for a reader doesn’t always have to be a book. Many book lovers enjoy accessories that make reading more comfortable or protect their favourite titles. Adjustable book covers, Kindle sleeves, and pocket cushions are thoughtful options that work for any genre lover and fit their existing reading routine.
What can I put in a book lover’s gift basket?
You can mix practical items with cosy extras — think an adjustable cover for paperbacks or hardbacks, a pen-and-tab holder bookmark for annotating, a mug, a throw blanket, and their favourite tea. You can even theme the basket around a genre or author they love.
Why do people use book covers?
Book covers protect your books from bent corners, spills, and everyday wear. They can also be used to keep your current read a mystery while you’re out in public — perfect if you don’t want spoilers or curious glances at your book choice.
What are some unique gifts for Kindle readers?
A padded Kindle cover is both functional and stylish, giving e-readers protection from bumps and scratches. You could also add a bookmark with a pen holder for quick notes, a reading light for late nights, or a bookish cushion for extra comfort.
How can I make my reading nook more cosy?
Comfort is key. Add a soft cushion (bonus points if it has a pocket for your book), a warm throw, and good lighting. Surround yourself with things you love — plants, candles, or wildlife-themed prints — to make the space feel inviting and uniquely yours.
What’s the best way to choose a book for someone else?
If you’re not sure about their reading preferences, try asking about their favourite genres or authors. You can also look for special editions of classics, or skip the book entirely and opt for a bookish accessory they can use with any title.
